“Borrowing Bandit” Robs Woodforest Bank Inside Wal-Mart Store

An unprepared robber needed to borrow the implements to write his stick up note Friday afternoon at the Woodforest Bank, 13750 East Freeway in Houston. The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force is seeking the public’s help in identifying the “Borrowing Bandit.”

At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2008, the robber entered the Wal-Mart store and proceeded to the bank area within the store. “Borrowing Bandit” requested a pen and a deposit slip, and then went to the end of the line to wait for teller assistance. When it was his turn at the teller counter, he produced his freshly made note, which announced that he had a gun and he wanted money. In the note “Borrowing Bandit” threatened to shoot if his orders were not obeyed. After getting the money, he fled on foot. Witnesses believe “Borrowing Bandit” may have driven away in a red sport utility vehicle.

“Borrowing Bandit” is described as a white male, late 30’s to early 40’s, 5’10” to 6’00” tall, slim build, with a large nose. He was wearing a beige baseball cap and dark glasses.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the charging and arrest of “Borrowing Bandit” or any other felony suspect. If you have information about this case, please call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
