BANK ROBBER THREATENS BOMB, THEN GETS AWAY ON A BICYCLE The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a bank robber who told tellers he had a bomb during a robbery at the Wachovia Bank, address 235 West 20th, Houston, Texas earlier today. At approximately 3:20PM, the man rode up to the bank on a bicycle. Once inside, he approached the teller, demanded money and stated he had a bomb. The robber then displayed a note to the teller, which also demanded money and stated he had a bomb. The robber put his hand inside his pocket as if he were reaching for a weapon or explosive device. However, no weapon or explosive device was observed by any of the tellers. The teller, fearing for his life, removed cash from the drawer and gave it to the robber. He got away with the cash on his bicycle. No one was physically hurt during the robbery. The robber is described as a white male, 50-55 years of age, approximately 5’8” tall, 170-200 pounds. He had long gray hair pulled back in a pony tail and a gray beard. During the robbery, he wore khaki colored pants, a khaki jacket and matching hat. Crimestoppers is offering up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the charging and arrest of this bank robber, or any bank robberies in the area.
