Baytown Man Sentenced for Marijuana Trafficking
BEAUMONT, TX—U.S. Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 41-year-old Baytown man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
GEORGE FABIAN BELL pleaded guilty on Oct. 20, 2008, to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana and was sentenced today to 188 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield.
According to information presented in court, beginning in July 2006, Bell began purchasing 300 to 450 pounds of marijuana per month in the Houston area. Bell would then arrange for the marijuana to be transported through the Eastern District of Texas to Florida where it would be distributed. Bell admitted that from July 2006 until June 2008, he conspired with others to traffic a quantity of marijuana greater than 1,000 kilograms, but not to exceed 3,000 kilograms. Bell was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 25, 2008 and charged with federal drug trafficking crimes.
