BEAUMONT COMMUNITY LEADERS LEARN FBI TECHNIQUES(Beaumont, TX) United States Attorney Matthew D. Orwig and Federal Bureau of Investigation Supervisory Special Agent Gerald Lyons are pleased to announce Beaumont Mayor Guy Goodson and Entergy President Joe Domino have completed the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Citizens Academy in Houston. The curriculum included investigative techniques, forensic examination of substances such as blood, DNA and fiber analysis, and firearms instruction. Presenters during the training included Beaumont FBI Special Agents Mark Broome and Tim Brewer. SA Broome and SA Brewer discussed the investigation of the notorious murder of James Byrd, Jr. in Jasper, Texas. Matthew D. Orwig, who sponsored the nominations of Goodson and Domino said, “They were instrumental in the area’s recovery following Hurricane Rita and have spent a considerable amount of time serving the community in various capacities. Goodson and Domino genuinely care about this community and will return from this training with suggestions and ideas that will benefit Beaumont and surrounding communities.” The 9 week academy is held each year in Houston at the Houston Division headquarters of the FBI and teaches community representatives about the internal workings of the FBI.
