GARRISON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO BANK ROBBERY(Lufkin, TX) United States Attorney Matthew D. Orwig announced today that a 26-year-old Garrison, Texas, man has pleaded guilty to federal bank robbery charges in the Eastern District of Texas. LETERRICK TWUANE RODGERS, admitted to robbing a bank before United States Magistrate Earl Hines. According to information presented in court, on April 19, 2006, Rodgers walked into Hibernia National Bank in Chireno, Texas, where he approached an employee of the bank and handed her a note demanding money. The defendant produced a duffle bag from under his jacket and the teller put a total of $1,950.00 in U.S. currency into the bag. Bank employees were able to provide a vehicle description and license plate number that aided the Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office deputies in apprehending the defendant. During his escape, Rodgers stopped to ask a local resident for gasoline, shortly thereafter he was apprehended in a wooded area approximately one-half mile from his vehicle and was in possession of the $1,950.00 taken during the robbery. Rodgers faces a sentence of up to 20 years imprisonment and a term of supervised release up to five years. A sentencing date has not been set. This case is being investigated by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Reynaldo P. Morin. |
