MAN SENTENCED FOR MAILING THREATS
(Sherman, TX) United States Attorney Matthew D. Orwig announced today that a 57-year-old Colbert, Oklahoma man was sentenced today after being previously found guilty of 8 counts of mailing threatening communications. ARTHUR MARCUS BOYD was sentenced today by United States District Judge Richard Schell to 27 months imprisonment and one year of supervised release. Boyd was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and $2,200 in restitution. Boyd was indicted on April 14, 2005 for 8 counts of mailing threatening communications after threatening to damage the reputations of attorneys in the Sherman, Texas law firm of Nall, Pelley & Wynne as well as former Grayson County Judge Horace Groff if they did not pay him certain sums of money. After a two day trial earlier this year, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on all 8 counts of the Indictment on February 8, 2006. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas prosecuted the case.
