74-YEAR-OLD SMITH COUNTY MAN GUILTY OF DEALING CRACK

(Tyler, TX) A 74-year-old Smith County man has pleaded guilty to distributing crack cocaine in the Eastern District of Texas. EUNICE “SON” JOHNSON entered his plea today before United State District Judge Leonard Davis.

According to information presented in court, Johnson delivered approximately 25 grams of crack cocaine to an individual at his home in rural Smith County on several occasions in 2004. Johnson was charged with distribution of more than 5 grams of crack cocaine and scheduled to begin trial today when he changed his plea to guilty.

Johnson faces up to twenty years in federal prison and a fine of up to $1 million. A sentencing date has not been set.

The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jim Middleton.
