Photograph of SAC Roderick L. BeverlyOn June 24, 2005, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Roderick L. Beverly, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Houston Division, was honored as the recipient of the Pakistani American Congress' (PAC) National Bridge Builder and Community Service Award. SAC Beverly was presented the national award by the PAC President M. Ashraf Abbasi at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. During the ceremony, SAC Beverly was recognized for his unprecedented work in bringing the Houston law enforcement and intelligence communities together with the Muslim and Pakistani communities.

SAC Beverly was the only law enforcement official in the United States to receive this award in 2005, and was recognized for his efforts in reaching out to community leaders and community members through orientation programs, town hall meetings, and countless visits to Houston area mosques. In the presentation of the award, PAC President Abbasi noted that SAC Beverly successfully earned the trust and respect of the Houston Muslim community not only for himself, but the entire FBI. SAC Beverly's compassion and common sense helped minimize the mistrust of the FBI in the Houston Muslim Community, and reinforced an already strong partnership and friendship. One of the highlights of this mutual interaction was when the FBI invited community leaders to address a group of over 500 officers from 177 different federal, state and local law enforcement agencies who were attending a Two-Day Counter Terrorism course.

PAC President Abbasi noted that SAC Beverly has made use of electronic and print media in his year-long bridge building effort with the Pakistani Community, and that FBI Houston's efforts are being duplicated throughout the country.
